Weekly Update October 25, 2024
October 25, 2024
To: Solheim Employees, Residents, Family Members and Stakeholders
From: Sam Oden, CEO of Solheim Senior Community
I was delighted to hear our Resident Representative report at our recent Board of Directors meeting that Solheim’s campus activities are flourishing, bringing vibrancy and engagement across our community! With a diverse selection of events and programs, Solheim truly offers something for everyone, ensuring each resident can find meaningful ways to connect, grow, and celebrate. Tomorrow, for example, a group of residents will attend the Pasadena Symphony Concert at the Ambassador Auditorium – just one of many excursions that bring the joys of the larger world to our community.
In the spirit of abundant living, our community thrives on meaningful moments that foster joy, connection, and a sense of belonging. As Halloween approaches, we’re excited to offer festive activities that bring our residents together in the warmth of community spirit. On Tuesday the 29th, we’ll start the day with pumpkin painting at 10:00 am, providing a fun, creative outlet for everyone. Later, at 3:00 pm, we’re thrilled to welcome soprano Monica Schober for her 'Halloween Foolishness' program. Monica, who has performed with the Los Angeles Philharmonic and made her European debut at the historic Esterházy Palace, will enchant us with her vibrant mix of characters, from demigoddesses and ghouls to nuns and witches, adding humor and artistry to our celebration. And, of course, don’t miss our Halloween Costume Contest on Thursday the 31st at 2:30 pm on the Health Center Patio, where residents can showcase their creativity in a festive, friendly competition!
Our vibrant community also gathers around the excitement of sports. For our sports enthusiasts, the upcoming schedule is filled with can’t-miss events: The LA Dodgers kick off the World Series against the New York Yankees at 5:00 pm, USC faces Rutgers tonight at 8:00 pm, and the Los Angeles Lakers will play the Phoenix Suns at 7:00 pm.
To keep up with all of Solheim’s happenings, residents can check their monthly calendars, weekly Informers, or tune into our In-House Channel 1390, where we keep everyone updated with the latest schedules and reminders.
Solheim will experience a power outage affecting our Health Center on Sunday from 9 am-1pm while DWP replaces a transformer. We are fully prepared to manage the power outage effectively and ensure continuity of normal operations without disruption. Lunch will be delivered on trays to all residents during the power outage.
All staff in our Skilled Nursing Campus must wear a well-fitting, high-quality mask or higher-level respirator. Visitors to our Health Center (Skilled Nursing) are required to wear a mask and will be offered a COVID-19 antigen test before entry.
