Weekly Update May 6, 2022
May 6, 2022
To: Solheim Employees, Residents, Family Members and Stakeholders
From: Sam Oden, CEO of Solheim Senior Community
With Mother’s Day this Sunday, I’d like to wish all mothers the love and happiness you so richly deserve. I hope you have a very happy Mother's Day!
We are also preparing to celebrate all our staff during “National Nursing Home Week”—which this year falls between May 8th - 14th. We will kick off the week our Leadership Team serving all staff a pancake breakfast in the Breezeway on Monday! We have a variety of themes planned through the week, and lunch will be served for all of our staff on Friday. There are also many ways that you can help us appreciate our staff during National Nursing Home Week – for example, if the spirit moves you, you may donate towards our Employee Appreciation Fund, or our Employee Education Assistance Fund! For more information, contact Tina Antypas at tantypas@solheimsenior.org or visit our website www.solheimsenior.org/donate.
I also encourage you to share your kind words with us! As always, our staff continue working hard to create an atmosphere of peace, mutual respect, and love here on campus. Family Members and Residents may nominate employees for our next “Employee of the Quarter“, and the “Solheim Feeling” nomination card can be found at nursing stations or at our front desk, or you can fill one out online at www.solheimsenior.org/employee-recognition. Your kind words help our staff to better appreciate just how their everyday acts of kindness and compassion help to foster an environment of “Abundant Living” for all of our residents!
As I mentioned last week, our Annual Meeting of the Corporation is scheduled for Sunday June 5th at 4pm. Once again, this year, our Annual Meeting will be held virtually. We will be presenting new Board Members for consideration to join our Solheim Board of Directors. As a reminder: This meeting is a gathering of delegates from our ELCA church congregations and other interested parties. If you would like to join us for our Annual Meeting, please contact Tina Antypas to request a link for access to this (virtual) meeting.
Our visitation guidelines remain the same as last week – (please be aware that we stop offering rapid tests at 4:30pm). If you come to visit after that time, we ask that you provide your own proof of a negative Covid-19 test result from within the past 48 hours. I sincerely thank you for your patience, as our guidelines will likely continue to evolve considering changing regulatory guidance. Our current visitation guidelines are:
All visitors in our Residential, Assisted and Memory Care levels of living on campus may visit indoors if the visitor is fully vaccinated OR provides proof of a negative PCR COVID-19 test result within 48 Hours, or a negative Antigen test within 24 hours.
All GENERAL visitors in our Health Center (SNF) must provide one of the following prior to entering the facility for all indoor and in-room visits, REGARDLESS of vaccination status: a negative PCR COVID-19 test result within 48 Hours, or a negative Antigen test within 24 hours.
All ESSENTIAL visitors in our Health Center (SNF) are exempt from the testing requirement and may visit any resident in any zone regardless of vaccination status.
Testing is not required for OUTDOOR visitation.
Indoor visitors and visitors eligible for outdoor visitation must always wear a facemask during the visitation and physically distance themselves from facility staff and other residents and visitors that are not part of their group at all times during the visit.
Alternative communication such as phone calls, video calls, and online communication is always available.
To further mitigate the spread of COVID-19, if you are sick or not feeling well for any reason you should postpone your visit and not come to campus until you’re feeling well again.
Finally, I am pleased to say that, as of today’s writing, we have no cases of COVID-19 on campus.
If you have any specific questions, please direct them to Tina Antypas at 323 257-7518 X225 or tantypas@solheimsenior.org.
