Weekly Update March 25, 2022

March 25, 2022

To: Solheim Employees, Residents, Family Members and Stakeholders
From: Sam Oden, CEO of Solheim Senior Community

I don’t know about you, but this weather feels like summer, not Spring!  It was however, perfect weather for our recent photoshoot here on campus!  We’re working on updating our website with new photos of our renovated spaces and are excited to share those with you.

It is with mixed emotions I share with you that Kathy Rust, our Director of Community Engagement for the last 7 ½ years is retiring, and her last day with us is Saturday April 2nd.  She has made such an impact on the lives of our residents, bringing joy, engaging activities and opportunities for fellowship to our community.  I know she will be missed.  Please be sure to offer your well wishes to Kathy on the next chapter in her life as you see her on campus next week.

We have welcomed several new residents into our Solheim family, and our marketing department is busy offering tours of our campus.  If you, or someone you know have questions about joining our community or would like to schedule a tour, please contact either Mamie Cornett or Lucy Laloyan at 323-257-7518.

Our visitation guidelines remain the same since last week – (please be aware that we stop offering rapid tests at 4:30pm).  If you come to visit after that time, we ask that you provide your own proof of a negative Covid-19 test result from within the past 48 hours.  I sincerely thank you for your patience, as our guidelines will likely continue to evolve considering changing regulatory guidance. Our current visitation guidelines are:

  • All GENERAL visitors must provide one of the following prior to entering the facility for all indoor and in-room visits, REGARDLESS of vaccination status: a negative PCR COVID-19 test result within 48 Hours, or a negative Antigen test within 24 hours.

  • Testing is not required for OUTDOOR visitation.

  • All ESSENTIAL visitors are exempt from the testing requirement and may visit any resident in any zone regardless of vaccination status.

  • Proof of vaccination and booster shot, if eligible, is required for all INDOOR visits.

  • Outdoor visitation is permitted for those that do not meet the vaccination requirement.

  • Indoor visitors and visitors eligible for outdoor visitation must always wear a facemask during the visitation and physically distance themselves from facility staff and other residents and visitors that are not part of their group at all times during the visit.

  • Alternative communication such as phone calls, video calls, and online communication is always available.

To further mitigate the spread of COVID-19, if you are sick or not feeling well for any reason you should postpone your visit and not come to campus until you’re feeling well again.

I am pleased to say, as of today’s writing, we have no cases of COVID-19 on campus.

If you have any specific questions, please direct them to Tina Antypas at 323 257-7518 X225 or tantypas@solheimsenior.org.
