Weekly Update January 14, 2022
January 14, 2022
To: Solheim Employees, Residents, Family Members and Stakeholders
From: Sam Oden, CEO of Solheim Senior Community
I want to thank you all for your ongoing support and patience over these past weeks. As reported COVID-19 cases continue to rise dramatically across the area, we have repeatedly had to revise our visitation guidelines on short notice in response to rapidly revolving guidance from regulatory agencies, and I expect that that will continue to be the case going forward over at least the next few weeks. As mentioned in our last update, we continue with window visits only in our Skilled Nursing Health Center.
As a reminder, the Order of the Health Officer issued January 5th states as follows: “ALL VISITORS [to our Skilled Nursing Health Center] must provide a negative PCR COVID-19 test result within 48 Hours, or a negative Antigen test within 24 hours, REGARDLESS of vaccination status and REGARDLESS of essential visitor status. In addition, proof of vaccination and booster shot, if eligible, is required for all INDOOR visits” (which are suspended at this time until further notice).
Please note there may be a wait time for our staff to accommodate your visit. Our staff will ensure your visit can be conducted in a manner that adheres to the core principles of COVID-19 infection prevention and does not substantially increase risks to other residents. As a reminder, visitors are not required to schedule an appointment – however, if you’d like to let us know when you’ll be visiting, you are more than welcome to do so.
As always, resident (and staff) health and safety remains our top priority, and we are continuing to monitor and follow all applicable CDC and California Department of Health guidelines. Especially during this period when the entire region is seeing a significant uptick in reported COVID-19 cases, to further mitigate the spread of COVID-19, if you are sick or not feeling well for any reason you should postpone your visit and not come to campus until you’re feeling well again.
To remind everyone about our ongoing protocol for visitations in our Residential and Assisted Living Campus and our Halvorson Memory Care Neighborhood—in accordance with guidance provided by our regulatory agencies, for unvaccinated visitors we require either proof of vaccination, or proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours of the visitation.
We thank you for your continued partnership, diligence, and patience in following these important guidelines.
As of today’s writing, we have five (5) new residents who have tested positive for COVID-19 in our Skilled Nursing Health Care Center. We will continue weekly testing of our residents and staff.
