Weekly Update April 9, 2021
April 9, 2021
To: Solheim Employees, Residents, Family Members and Stakeholders
From: Sam Oden, CEO of Solheim Senior Community
Our report for this week’s campus highlights will be pre-empted by notice that today we have confirmed a positive case of COVID-19 in our Residential/Assisted Living Campus. This resident remains asymptomatic, and is quarantining in their apartment. Effective immediately in our Residential and Assisted Living areas, we have:
Suspended all communal dining and activities until further notice;
Suspended all visitations for Residential and Assisted Living (note that visitations for our Halvorson Memory Care Neighborhood and Health Center are still being permitted at this time, but they will still need to follow the guidelines below);
Scheduled testing for all residents and direct care staff in our Residential and Assisted Living Campus; and
Increased the frequency of our cleaning and disinfecting schedule until further notice.
Once we receive results from our testing which confirm that we are COVID-19 free again, we will move forward and open our dining once again (socially distanced as required) and allow for small group activities. Until then, we appreciate your patience.
As I mentioned above, all visitations in our Residential and Assisted Living campus have been suspended until further notice—but visitation is still currently permitted for Halvorson Memory Care Neighborhood and our Health Center, and those visitation guidelines remain the same. We appreciate your patience as we implement these guidelines, and, as always, we ask for your partnership and diligence in following these important rules:
All visitors must still continue to wear masks at all times, practice social distancing, and schedule your visit with Kathy Rust at KathyR@solheimsenior.org;
All residents, regardless of vaccination status, may have “in-room” visits, but must continue to social distance;
If a resident has been fully vaccinated, and all of their visitors have also been fully vaccinated, then limited direct physical contact (i.e., a hug, touching, assistance with care needs, etc.) is also permissible;
Any personal “in-room” visits in our Health Center should be scheduled in common areas, or when the roommate is out of the room;
All visitors must still continue check in when they arrive on campus (including temperature and screening questions) and sign our COVID-19 waiver;
We will still continue to limit visits to 30 minutes maximum, whenever possible; and
We still continue to encourage outdoor visits or visits in our common areas as much as possible
Should you have any questions about these guidelines, please contact Tina Antypas at tantypas@solheimsenior.org, or Meg Pierce at mpierce@solheimsenior.org.
