Weekly Update February 12, 2021

February 12, 2021

To: Solheim Employees, Residents, Family Members and Stakeholders
From: Sam Oden, CEO of Solheim Senior Community

Curative Care—the entity overseeing the roll-out of the COVID-19 vaccinations—was on site February 5th to administer the second dose of the vaccine for those interested and eligible Solheim staff members and residents who were able to receive their first dose back on January 8th. They were also able to administer the first dose to interested and eligible staff and residents who were not able to receive their first dose earlier. We also understand that Curative Care will plan to return once again sometime in March, to administer the second dose to any individuals who received their first dose last Friday.

To reiterate: Notwithstanding Solheim’s cooperation with Curative Care to facilitate access to COVID-19 vaccination for the convenience of any and all interested Solheim staff and residents, interested staff and residents are completely free to obtain any COVID-19 vaccination, at any time, through any other provider or means that may become available to them in their individual capacity. Solheim staff and residents who are interested in receiving a COVID-19 vaccination are under no obligation to receive the Moderna-produced vaccine, or to choose to use Curative Care as their vaccine provider.

Since last week’s clearance from the California Department of Health to slowly and cautiously add more (socially-distanced) communal dining and activities across our entire campus, our residents have enjoyed their meals in our main dining room and have been getting outdoor haircuts! We have also slowly begun reopening scheduled visitation opportunities in common areas or outdoors—always socially distanced and with face coverings required, of course! To schedule a visit, please email Kathy Rust at KathyR@solheimsenior.org. As always, if you are feeling ill, please do not visit our campus.

We are also in the process of enhancing our employee recognition program. Each quarter moving forward, five (5) employees will be chosen as Solheim’s “Employees of the Quarter.” All “Employees of the Quarter” will be in the running to win the “Employee of the Year ‘Solheim Feeling’ Award” at the end of the year! I’d like to take the opportunity to share with you a few comments that we’ve received recently about some of our star employees…

‘Sheila L. is kind, knowledgeable, and follows through. She’s very efficient and always pleasant!’—Cosmina Y., Resident.

‘In the midst of the pandemic challenges over the holiday season, Carmen brought so much added joy by decorating Solheim for Christmas!’—Kathy R., Staff Member

‘Meg Pierce has handled the Covid situation very well.’—Airene Z., Staff Member

‘LVN Tina is dedicated and did a great job, in spite of short staff during the outbreak.’—Shirley C., Staff Member

Please keep your eyes open for a new opportunity to recognize staff members who have gone above and beyond using our soon-to-be-released, fully-revamped Solheim website. We’ll share that link as soon as the website is up and running!

As of today’s writing, I am very happy to report that we have no new confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 anywhere on campus.

If you have any specific questions, please direct them to Tina Antypas at 323 257-751I8 X225 or tantypas@solheimsenior.org.
