To: Solheim Employees, Residents, Family Members and Stakeholders
From: Sam Oden, CEO of Solheim Senior Community
Happy New Year! This weekend, we leave 2023 behind and step into 2024. Solheim is extremely blessed to have celebrated our Centennial Anniversary in 2023, and we are excited to enter our second century of serving seniors. Solheim was originally founded way back in 1923 as a single small 12-room cottage – and a century later, we have grown to encompass four different levels of care on our beautiful and spacious 2 1/2 acre campus!
I’m also excited to report that Solheim has been named one of “The Best Nursing Homes of 2024” by US NEWS AND WORLD REPORT, achieving an overall rating of 5 out of 5! In addition, Newsweek Magazine recently partnered with the highly-respected global research firm “Statista” to comprehensively assess and rank “America's Best Continuing Care Retirement Communities” – seeking to identify places where “residents not only live but thrive.” Out of more than 2,000 CCRCs that were reviewed from all across the nation, Solheim was ranked 68th in America, 8th in California, and 3rd in Los Angeles! We are thrilled to be recognized in this fashion, and I am immeasurably proud of our team and the entire Solheim family. What a great way to start 2024!
The Christmas cards you found on your doors on Christmas day were especially made for Solheim’s residents by students at Delevan Drive Elementary School right here in beautiful Eagle Rock. We are blessed to be part of this wonderful community, where love and care abound. I’m sure those special cards brought joy to many.
Since we’re now in the middle of flu season, I’d also like to take the opportunity to remind you of our infection prevention protocols, which consist of wearing masks, frequent handwashing, and maintaining distance when in groups of people you do not know. With New Year’s Eve celebrations planned for this weekend and family visits on the rise, let’s all please continue to remember the basics of infection control and try to implement them consistently in our lives, in order to keep everyone healthy and happy in the New Year!
As of today, December 29th, and until further notice, all staff AND visitors, regardless of COVID-19 or influenza vaccination status, are required to wear a mask in our Health Center / Skilled Nursing campus. Masks will be provided at the Front Desk. All Solheim visitors and staff members must continue to conduct self-screening for symptoms of possible COVID-19 infection prior to entry.
