Weekly Update January 6, 2023

Solheim Employees, Residents, Family Members and Stakeholders
From:
Sam Oden, CEO of Solheim Senior Community

I am excited to be writing our first Weekly Update of the year, because the new year brings new opportunity, new hope, and we wish you newfound peace, joy and happiness!  This new year brings Solheim to a Century of Serving Seniors!   Throughout the year, we will have opportunities for residents and our greater community alike to participate in the celebrations.  We will continue to update you as the celebrations unfold!

You’ve heard them called Engagement Coordinators, Life Enrichment Team Members, Activity Assistants, but regardless of their title, these individuals inspire, engage, and enrich the lives of those they serve throughout the year as they promote the well-being of everyone here on campus!  During National Activity Professionals Week in January, you’ll have an opportunity to get to know our team more.  Make sure to check out your weekly and monthly calendar and be sure to recognize them as we celebrate our Life Enrichment Team all month long!

In celebration of Solheim Senior Community’s 100th Anniversary this year, the Solheim Book Club is kicking off 2023 with a discussion of a much beloved book that was also first published one hundred years ago: a famous collection of poetry by Robert Frost, entitled,New Hampshire.” The collection includes such enduring favorites as “Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening,” “Fire and Ice,” and “Nothing Gold Can Stay” – and perhaps not surprisingly, it went on to win the 1924 Pulitzer Prize for Poetry.

The Book Club will meet on Saturday, January 21, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at Solheim Senior Community in the Navigage Room.  All are welcome.  It’s a great opportunity to invite your friends or family to join, as well!  If you’re interested, please contact Ashley Brayman at ABrayman@solheimsenior.org.

Visitation Guidelines remain unchanged.

  • All visitors will be screened for a recent diagnosis of COVID-19, symptoms of COVID-19 infection, and close contact exposure.

  • All visitors to our Health Center are required to provide proof of negative COVID-19 test within 24 hours of their visit.  Solheim will provide rapid tests at the front desk during our visiting hours from 9am to 4:30pm.

  • All employees in our Health Center must wear N95 respirators in all areas of the Health Center

As of today, we have two (2) residents in our Skilled Nursing Health Center who have tested positive for Covid-19.

If you have any specific questions, please direct them to Tina Antypas at 323 257-7518 X225 or tantypas@solheimsenior.org.
