Weekly Update August 16, 2024

August 16, 2024

To: Solheim Employees, Residents, Family Members and Stakeholders
From: Sam Oden, CEO of Solheim Senior Community

I'm pleased to share that work on the second elevator serving our Merton & Manor buildings will begin next week. The project is expected to be completed by early September. You may recall that we took this elevator out of service in April to address some essential repairs. I want to express my gratitude for your patience as we awaited the necessary parts. I understand this has been an inconvenience, and I'm glad we can now move forward and have the elevator back in service very soon!

Our staff is integral to the exceptional care that is provided here at Solheim, and one of the main reasons we hold a 5-Star overall rating with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services . Their unwavering dedication and tireless efforts are the cornerstone of our community's well-being. Although we do not allow tipping, we do provide a way for you to show your appreciation for our team's dedication. Donations to our Employee Appreciation Fund are welcome year-round, offering a meaningful way to express your gratitude. These funds are distributed to our employees at the end of the year, and by setting up a monthly contribution, you can make a lasting impact in a manageable way.

In addition to the Employee Appreciation Fund, we also offer the Employee Education Assistance Fund, which provides vital support for our staff's continued learning and development. We've seen firsthand how these contributions have helped our team members grow. For instance, Spenser Wells, who has been instrumental in assisting residents with their technology needs, has advanced his skills thanks to the Education Assistance Fund!

Contact Tina Antypas for help with setting up a systematic gift or visit www.solheimsenior.org/donate and choose the Employee Appreciation or Employee Education option. Your gifts help uplift and celebrate those who dedicate themselves to serving our community with such extraordinary devotion.

One final reminder, as this summer heat continues, please remember to keep hydrated! We have established hydration stations throughout the campus to ensure easy access to water. Please make use of these stations regularly to keep yourself hydrated and safe. Let’s look out for each other and stay cool!  If you have any issues with your Air Conditioning, please let the front desk or your nursing station know ASAP!

All staff in our Skilled Nursing Campus must wear a well-fitting, high-quality mask or higher-level respirator. Visitors to our Health Center (Skilled Nursing) are required to wear a mask, and will be offered a COVID-19 antigen test before entry.

If you have any specific questions, please direct them to Tina Antypas at 323-257-7518 X225 or tantypas@solheimsenior.org.
