Weekly Update December 10, 2021

December 10, 2021

To:
Solheim Employees, Residents, Family Members and Stakeholders
From: Sam Oden, CEO of Solheim Senior Community

It’s beginning to look and feel a lot like Christmas around Solheim these days! This year, we have introduced “Saturdays at Solheim,” which is a program featuring live entertainment outside on the breezeway each Saturday afternoon in December leading up to Christmas. We kicked off last Saturday with a festive “Tree Lighting” event, and I’m happy to report that we even saw a few snow flurries make an appearance! “Saturdays at Solheim” continues tomorrow (December 11th) from 3:30-5pm with “The Jingle Singers,” a well-known local caroling group featuring some absolutely amazing four-part harmony.  Please consider joining us! If you are interested, RSVP to Kathy Rust at kathyr@solheimsenior.org or call 323 257 7518 x 224 for more information (and plan to dress warmly!).

I should add that we have much more planned in the weeks to come: Outings include a visit to The Alex Theater (in Glendale) to see “The Nutcracker,” trips to see the holiday lights down Christmas Tree Lane, and a viewing of “The Christmas Carol”.  We certainly love this time of year, and we hope that all of the members of our extended “Solheim Family” get to enjoy the same feelings of warmth, love, and joy that we savor every day here on campus!

It’s not too late to show your appreciation for our staff this year by making a monetary donation (which will then be distributed equally among all non-management staff members).  You may drop a check in the mail, leave it at our front desk, or give online from the ease and comfort of your own living room by visiting www.solheimsenior.org/donate.  Please also feel free to contact Tina Antypas for more information.  You may always also offer kind words through our Solheim Feeling Employee Recognition nomination cards, which can be found at the front desk and at nursing stations or online at www.solheimsenior.org/employee-recognitionYour kind words mean the world to our staff!

To remind everyone about our ongoing protocol for visitations: For visitations throughout campus—from our Health Center, to our Residential and Assisted Living Campus, to our Halvorson Memory Care Neighborhood—in accordance with guidance provided by our regulatory agencies, we will now require either proof of vaccination, or proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours of the visitation.  (We have rapid testing available on site, Monday through Friday, during business hours for unvaccinated visitors who have not been able to obtain a test within the previous 72 hours.  Rapid testing returns results within approximately 15 minutes and there is a $20 administrative fee for this service.)  All rules and protocol remain unchanged, and we thank you for your continued partnership, diligence, and patience in continuing to follow all of these important guidelines.

As of today’s writing, I am very happy to report that
we have no new confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 anywhere on campus.

If you have any specific questions, please direct them to Tina Antypas at 323 257-7518 X225 or tantypas@solheimsenior.org.
