Weekly Update September 10, 2021
September 10, 2021
To: Solheim Employees, Residents, Family Members and Stakeholders
From: Sam Oden, CEO of Solheim Senior Community
Tomorrow marks the 20th anniversary of the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks that changed this nation forever. I know that we all vividly recall the tremendous sorrow of that day – but I hope that everyone also takes a moment at some point to pause and reflect on the incredible dedication, commitment, and strength that was displayed by all of the frontline heroes who bravely responded to that tragic events. To paraphrase the wisdom of an old folk saying: The darker the night grows, the more brightly even a single candle shines within it.
The “Solheim Soiree” – A virtual “Paint and Sip” Fundraiser is just around the corner! On Saturday, October 16th, from 7-9pm, we will be hosting this virtual fundraiser. This will be a combination art lesson and wine tasting, led by Pinot’s Palette of Pasadena. Participants can participate in a painting lesson led by a professional artist while sipping wine in the comfort of their own home (and they will also have the ability to upgrade their registration, to include a gift basket with a premier bottle of wine, as well as other goodies…) We hope you’ll consider supporting Solheim and its mission by being a sponsor or underwriter, or simply by joining us on the day of the event! To purchase your tickets, or for more information, please visit www.solheimsenior.org/paint-n-sip or email tantypas@solheimsenior.org.
We continue in our protocol for visitations that went into effect recently: For visitations throughout campus—from our Health Center, to our Residential and Assisted Living Campus, to our Halvorson Memory Care Neighborhood—in accordance with new guidance provided by our regulatory agencies we will now require either proof of vaccination, or proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours of the visitation. (We have rapid testing available on site, Monday through Friday, during business hours for unvaccinated visitors who have not been able to obtain a test within the previous 72 hours. Rapid testing returns results within approximately 15 minutes and there is a $20 administrative fee for this service.)
We also still ask for your continued partnership, diligence, and patience in continuing to follow all of these important rules, until further notice:
Visitors must show proof of vaccination, or a negative COVID-19 test dated within the last 72 hours
Our recommended visitation hours are 10am – 4pm daily, however if you are visiting outside regular business hours, please know you will be entering our campus through our Health Center doors;
All visitors must still continue to check in when they arrive on campus (including temperature and screening questions) and sign our COVID-19 waiver;
We ask that all visitors wear masks and practice social distancing;
All residents, regardless of vaccination status, may have “in-room” visits;
Any personal “in-room” visits in our Health Center should be scheduled in common areas, or when the roommate is out of the room; and
We still continue to encourage outdoor visits or visits in our common areas as much as possible.
As of today’s writing, I am very happy to report that we have no new confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 anywhere on campus
