Weekly Update February 9, 2024
February 9, 2024
To: Solheim Employees, Residents, Family Members and Stakeholders
From: Sam Oden, CEO of Solheim Senior Community
I want to thank everyone for your patience and cooperation as we started a major upgrade here at Solheim this week. We have closed off our main elevator in our Merton & Manor (M&M) building, and work on upgrading this nearly 40 year-old elevator is underway! This project is an important and much-needed improvement for our community. (Completion of this project will also clear the way for us to move forward with a “refresh” of common areas throughout M & M, which we know everyone is very excited about.) Please be sure to watch our In-House Channel 1390 and read our posted notices for regular updates, and thank you in advance for your patience as we make this very important upgrade!
As we navigate this upgrade, please be sure to let us know if you have questions or need assistance. This would be a good time to also remind you of our system for requesting assistance from our facilities department. You may submit a work order at any nursing station or at our Front Desk,. We’ll be sure to enter it into our online WorxHub maintenance system, which helps us manage our work more efficiently. Our goal is to complete all requests within 72 hours. If you have an emergency such as an overflowing toilet or leaking sink, these emergencies will be addressed right away.
As we prepare to hold annual elections at our Resident Town Hall Meeting next week, now is also the time to nominate someone to join our Resident Council. Solheim’s Resident Council gives residents the opportunity to participate in matters of concern and interest to them and helps maintain open communication between residents and staff for the benefit of all residents. (It’s also a great way to meet new people within our community!) I strongly encourage you to consider nominating yourself or someone else for membership on the Resident Council. Please contact Ashley Brayman for more information.
As a reminder, your “Solheim Feeling” Employee Recognition Nominations help us to select our Employees of the Quarters and choose our Employee of the Year… so please be sure to share your recognition of our wonderful employees by filling out a nomination card that can be found at our Front Desk, or any Nursing Station. You may also visit www.solheimsenior.org/employee-recognition . We love to share your kind words with our fantastic staff!
As of February 2nd, masks are strongly recommended for visitors. Staff who are not vaccinated with both the influenza and COVID -19 vaccines for 2023- 2024 winter season are still required to wear a mask in the Health Center/ Skilled Nursing campus. Masks will be provided at the Front Desk. All Solheim visitors and staff members must continue to conduct self-screening for symptoms of possible COVID-19 infection prior to entry.
If you have any specific questions, please direct them to Tina Antypas at 323 257-7518 X225 or tantypas@solheimsenior.org.
