THE HALVORSON FAMILY CONNECTION, Part 2

Morgan and Borghild Halvorson

Olaf Halvorson retired from being President of the Board in 1948.  His son Morgan Halvorson became Vice President in 1949.  Morgan moved up to Board President in 1950 and continued in this capacity until the mid-fifties.  He maintained his connection with Solheim through his sister Borghild.

Borghild Halvorson became a resident in 1960.  She lived at Solheim for 35 years, becoming one of the first residents in the new Skilled Nursing Building in 1989.  “Borgy” was a person with special needs, who had always lived at home with her parents, but she made a wonderful adjustment to group living.  She loved to go on outings.  She also loved to sit next to the phone at the nurses’ station, answering the intercom and letting whoever called know where everyone was and what was going on.  She once told the Health Department surveyors that Solheim’s menus would improve if tongue was served.  She passed away in the mid-1990’s.
