Music At Solheim
One of the committees set up by the first Board of Directors was the Music Committee. Among the first donations received to furnish the house was an organ for the parlor. An organist came every week from San Pedro to play the organ. Women from Norwegian Lutheran congregations provided musicians and vocalists.
Music continues to be an important component of resident activities. The Music Appreciation Society meets monthly to learn about composers and hear their works. Musical entertainment occurs weekly. There are 4 pianos placed throughout Solheim for the enjoyment of the residents, almost all also donated.
